| Forum Newbie United States 78 Posts | Since the site changed its e-mailing policies and ownership and so on, so has the usefulness of this list and all that it provided. It has been close to a year since anyone has reached out to anyone on the list or a new volunteer has come on board (and that very well could be because of the e-mail changes which were put into place). Many on the list have left the site - others have changed their status, their names here, and so on - some have even passed away in that time (and some of us still miss them dearly). So I have removed the list until such time as it can be re-evaluated and if deemed still needed a means can be found to work around the more recent policy changes and such. If it is, we will verify and update and repost anew. I felt this was better than leaving the outdated list as is and frustrate those who might attempt to connect with someone through the list the way it is. It was a good run so far, folks and we helped a whole lot of folks along the way. I want to take the opportunity to thank all of the volunteers on the list for their support of the list and others on the site. I especially want to extend my thanks to all of the managers of the list and all they have done over the course of its existance. | Forum Newbie United States 78 Posts | We are attempting to update the database now and we need the following from people on the list currently and those interested in joining the list - some of you sent the information in the past to Sallee and she is going through her 47 pages of e-mails to pull that information out, however some of you have not. Remember that all information is voluntary to provide and is kept confidential. First Name Phone numbers Messenger IDs and Services (AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, etc.) Area of expertise - this can be anything from general (meaning you are willing to be a friend and listen) to areas that you have first hand knowledge or training in (like some on the list work in hospitals, are lawyers or paralegals, some have gone through the system being homeless or arrested or raped or abused, some are excellent in research areas). Oh and that includes things like what Daywalker mentioned - computers and other areas that you would feel competent assisting someone with a question on. Also if you have times that you do not wish to be contacted (even though it is always through e-mail first and anything after that is your call), let us know that as well. | |

Forum Maniac United States 7,600 Posts | Just to let everyone know, there are seven members on the management team (two in the UK, two in Canada, two in the US and one in Austrailia) and there are also six back up managers (One in the UK, two in Canada, Two in the US and one in Austrailia). This makes for a core of 13 at this time - although the back ups are primarily there for the purpose of emergency coverage should a team manager not be available for any length of time. The management team's first decision was to look at five additional projects brought up in the months that they support list has been in existance. Those projects are as follows: 1. SM Support Network - this was a project originally talked about between myself and subbonita and a few others. Subbonita did a good deal of work on this to begin with but has since found she has had to leave off her work on this and thus it has been on hold for a time. If any of you were working with subbonita on this project, you can contact me for additional information about where this stands. 2. Geek List - this project was suggested by Daywalker on the forum here and it was the thought that it could very easily be incorporated into the existing support list simply by adding those kinds of specialized training into the description of area of expertise. 3. Emergency Fund - this was something suggested by WildnWicked and Amadeus on the forums and bounced around for awhile. The idea is it would be a fund established for the purpose of temporary funding in an emergency for those in need. 4. Kink Friendly Professionals - this was an idea originally mentioned by Puppikat and one which I was interested in pursuing further within the SM Support Network or outside of it. 5. Training - there are several organizations that offer training in crisis intervention and support like the Red Cross, the YWCA, the YMCA and others. The idea behind this is to compile a list of what organizations will offer this type of training and supply it to those who are volunteers for the list who wish to expand their training or areas of expertise. There are several other areas and ideas that the team of managers can and will discuss I am sure but these are the ones that came up immediately due to the fact that they have been put forth by the members of this site, in this forum, on this list and deal a great deal with support, help and advice. | |
