When we had stepped through the hidden door at the end of the cell corridor, Master Wolf re-locked it, and handed me the key. I clipped it onto my ring and prepared to follow him back to the upper levels.

But he paused at the last cell and rapped upon the heavy oaken door. It opened in a moment, and Master Fox peered out at us. "Ah, back at last? Good, good." He stepped out into the hallway, and Master Wolf took his leave of us.

"Lynx, before we return upstairs, there is someone I wish you to meet. The man in this cell has been here since I was a young Brother, and is somewhat of a special case. I will explain why later, but for now it would please me if you would go within and speak with him. His name is Oranth. Pay close attention to what he speaks of, that you may recount it to me afterwards."

As soon as I entered, my eyes leap to the gaunt figure who sat cross-legged upon the dank stone floor. He fairly seemed to glow in the dimness...
