Dear Dom: Spanking - A Special Holiday Edition

Well it’s that Spanksgiving season again. And what better way to start it off with BaadMaster shedding off his serious side and writing about the fun, fun, fun of spanking - with a lot of pictures provided by my perverted friends here at bondage.com. (And there are tons more here; at last count 40,000 and rising.).

First though, let’s get rid of a little detail (you know I just had to be serious, at least for a moment) - the definition of spanking.

Our BDSM dictionary defines "spanking" as follows: "To slap on the buttocks with the open hand, or a short flat object such as a paddle or a hairbrush. Used as both punishment and/or in role-play context in BDSM scenes."

Much of spanking comes under the category of OTK role-play - "Over The Knee." And in a typical scene, the submissive plays the badly behaved schoolgirl or schoolboy and the Dominant the stern teacher. The submissive usually dresses in a Catholic school type uniform and is strictly admonished before the "punishment" is administered.

Add some verbal role-play such as: "You’re eighteen and you still behave like a bad, unruly girl," "I am keeping you after school and you will be punished all day" or "Of all the arrogant, childish, disobedient, rude, socially unacceptable things to do, this is the worst I have seen!" and the fun begins! Of course, judging by the redness in these pictures, maybe it wasn’t actually role-play after all!

And, when the hand is not sufficient, use the paddle. Another way to spank include putting the submissive over a chair or better yet, tie the submissive to a chair. (Using a crop is technically not spanking, but it’s the holiday season so I will let it slide.) Putting the submissive on all fours and then spanking away works fine, too. While you are at it, just tie the submissive up.

There is no limit to the imagination when doing a spanking scene. However, spanking can also be used as an actual punishment. Since it is sometimes hard to use spanking as a punishment when the submissive actually likes it (a whole other topic), oft times "corporal punishment" is the way spanking can be used for discipline. This consists of question and response coupled with continuous spanking over a period of time. Here is an actual transcript of a corporal punishment session to give you an idea of what it is.
