Creeping out of bed trying not to wake Shaz you make your way over to the window. In contrast to the setting of Queensland for the weekend fantasy back here in Canberra it was winter. A heavy fog lies low over the paddocks, with a tinge of frost brushing the tops of the grass. Above a few fluffy grey clouds tinged pink with the pre dawn light resemble a Galah. Down on the lawn you can make out the indistinct shape of a mob of grey kangaroos grazing. The old man buck stands there scratching his chest overseeing his mob. A few young joeys still in their mothers pouch can be seen grazing while others, perhaps more brave, are out, though staying close to home. In a nearby tree a raucous gang of cockatoos herald the new day and a pair of kookaburras adds their laughte...
