First Touch

At first I was so busy with what I was doing I didn’t hear her behind me. She must have silently watched me for a while as I fit the new framing for her basement. When I finally did notice her I didn’t know what to say to her as she stood there silently with a tray of iced tea, waiting for me to notice.

"What timing," I said with a smile as I dropped my tool belt and accepted a glass from the tray. I watched her over the rim of the glass as I tasted the tea.
