Smart Arse Minx United Kingdom 5,960 Posts | Hmmm, well i honestly own up to the fact that i do make mistakes, my grammar is not always perfect, and the occasional typo does sneak past..... However, i will not worry too much about their spelling, so long as i can understand their words. There aren't many people on this site that i have trouble with in that respect. So no, grammar and spelling are not essential skills, besides which, i can always proof read stuff for Him, should he so desire me to do.....

Forum Slut United Kingdom 1,360 Posts | Dyslexia is an amazing thing. I can honestly say that some of the brightest and most stimulating people I have ever met have been dyslexic. They frequently think outside the box in a way that takes my breath away. In addition, they are often forced by circumstance to develop retentive memories and compensatory techniques which are way outside the capabilities of 'the norm'. A medium such as this makes such talents virtually invisible, while opening them to ridicule and criticism for something they struggle with on a daily basis. I'm rather a spelling/grammar/punctuation nazi myself, on occasion, but I reserve it for my own writing, not other people's. -- pomegranate 'Lord, grant me the serenity to change those I cannot accept and the courage to accept those I cannot change and the wisdom to bury the bodies of those I can neither accept nor change.' anon

The one your mother warned you about United States 3,485 Posts | sweetestpart: The way that we express ourselves reflects the way that we think. Attention to detail in both thought and action, among many other things, matters to me. Regardless of the reasons for it (typing skills, time pressures, never having taken the opportunity to learn to spell reasonably well), I interpret it as a lack of attention to detail. On that level, we'd not be compatible. Exactly what I said last night in red_writer's topic. I couldn't agree more. Lack of attention to detail = laziness for me and I don't do lazy men. ~Zan ________ FATFUCK:CBT ÐIVISION PR€SIЀNT & R€SIЀNT P€CK€R CH€CK€R

| Forum Apprentice 208 Posts | I have a friend who really enjoys her moments with the utterly gorgeous but intellectually vacant guys, you know, the ones whose literary accomplishments are exemplified by their reading of the monthly journals with photos of half-naked chicks displaying themselves on motorcycles. But she only enjoys them once, or maybe twice, depending on how quickly & thoroughly they knock her socks off. She loves the visceral, hunky, I-am-caveman-so-bend-over-now way of approaching relationships, at least on a temporary basis. This same friend, when she meets a man who quotes long-dead philosophers and promotes his concept of dominance with brainy abstract theories, would follow said ivory-tower guy with her tongue hanging out and cartoon stars flashing in her eyes. She's earned a Ph.D. herself, but her submissive streak turns her directly into Tweety Bird. ---I tawt I saw a putty tat...I did, I did tee a putty tat!--- | |

oral fixated Spain 6,013 Posts | Depends if the spelling was dyslexic or not, one of my oldest friends is and frequently feels very stupid, being blindingly intelligent. Overall sign of not caring, not paying attention to detail would probably be as big a turn off as terminal halitosis. Intelligence is massively erotic. | Forum Maniac United States 2,794 Posts | I'm not a sub, but I figure I belong on this thread given my screenname. My assessment (based on nothing but my experience and random numbers tossed in the air) is that roughly about 20% of subs get seriously turned on by intelligence/literacy (in general, not necessarily me). The rest can take it or leave it--it's just another factor that goes into the mix, and often not the most important one.

| Forum Regular 712 Posts | Language and words are my life. However, I don't really judge people on their spelling or grammar because I never know what could be the reasons for them using language differently than I do. They could use English as their second language, they could have any number of disabilities, or any number of other reasons. I'd rather know WHO the person is rather than make a snap judgement based on his or her language usage. Making Daddy Happy is a Good Thing. Forum Slut United States 1,162 Posts | Without the risk of sounding too much like i'm living in the cyber world, I believe that as a Dom - sub - vanilla - whatever - whomever is typing should have decent spelling skills. Nothing bugs me more to see "I thing you a butiful girl," or, "my name is rob, im 24, blu eye, blondee hair." When I see that, I feel the person is rushing to speak to me.. and quite honestly, it's a turn off.. Mistakes can be made of course, but that's just wrong!!!!!! -- Newsflash: Corduroy pillows making headlines | |

| Forum Apprentice United States 138 Posts | My response to this topic depends on whether I'm in the 'nilla world or the kinky world. In the 'nilla world, sure, what the heck, I'd have a quick roll in the hay with a fuck buddy who I wouldn't dream of being seen around town with, and who couldn't put a couple of sentences together coherently. (I wouldn't do it now, 'cause I'm married, but I would have, and did, once or twice, before.) In the kinky world, NO WAY! Remember, what we do is inherently risky; we are exchanging power; we are giving up control. I'll admit, it may sound ridiculous, but I simply couldn't/wouldn't give up control to someone who couldn't spell and couldn't present his thoughts clearly--that just seems too risky to me. For me, dominance requires intelligence, and intelligence requires the ability to put together a coherent, grammatically correct, and spell-checked paragraph. Flame away! | |

Forum Maniac Canada 19,931 Posts | There's a dom on this site who, when he first showed up a couple of years ago, would post VERY short one and two sentence posts that were somehow bang on the money with while wasting not a syllable. Occassionally the spelling or grammar would be wonky, although he soon got better. (No, I'm not talking about BD44, btw.) As it turned out he had some of dyslexic or aphasic condition, and it took him over an hour to compose each of those posts. Reports were that this was a fairly uncomfortable hour for him, as well. The thing is, I'm confident that as a dom he takes a back seat to no one, and has no problem finding a willing partner when he needs one. He's still posting, although I believe (or hope) that it's getting easier for him. His posts are still right on the money, and still win records for brevity. Honore de Balzac (1829)

Honore de Balzac (1829) What you said about your friend reminded me of my son. He is at the moment preparing for his law A-levels. He is a very bright young man with a good future ahead of him. He is also dyslexic and is unable to spell or punctuate. I would certainly try to get to know a person if it's only the spelling etc that is not up to scratch, you never know who is behind those posts. On the other hand it's always great to see someone writing a well designed and thought out post. Val
