A friend of mine without offspring (is offspring an AUP violation? I think not!) had a vasectomy. I asked him the question about the "right woman" and his answer was, "If she's the right woman for me, she won't want any children!"
Would anyone really suggest you have a child just to please the "right woman"? That seems like a terrible reason to bring a child into the world.

I'm sorry but I freaking agree. Too many AUPs for too many bad reasons, too many people on the planet in general. I am doing my part. Do your and get snipped! I'm sure Bob Barker would appreciate it. I mean, kitties and doggies are people too, right?
On a serious note, if you aren't sure and still want some unnecessary surgery, you could do as suggested above and freeze lots and lots of sperm. (To be safe, you know, lol.) Good luck either way!

It's a very personal decision that none of us can make for you. I was 31 and my wife was 28 (we had been married 4 years at that point) when we decided that we didn't want children. The decision was perfect for us, it gave us tremendous freedom and additional income and less expenses than all our friends. But none of those benefits were considered in making the decision; neither of us is maternal/paternal. Kids are great, as long as they aren't ours.

My vasectomy was done in 1972 and I didn't experience any more discomfort than if I had crossed my legs wrong. Very minor soreness for about 12 hours, that was all. They have come a long way since then with micro surgery, much less invasive. Any urologist probably does dozens every month.

well in an episode of Family Guy, Peter went in for a vasectomy, but first donated and froze a sperm sample. That would cover the possibility of wanting kids in the future. As far as how to solve the problem of being afraid of being as bad as your father to your aup's or if you can get your revenge by being more successful than he was is up to you.

We all wear masks. Some of us have more than others, and some of us can take off a few of them. Some of us can't find the bottom of the stack.

If you feel it's what is best for you, then go right ahead and do it. It's your body, do with it as you damn well please, but educate yourself ALOT about the pros/cons of it, there is turning back, but at a high price. Don't go into this blindly or half hearted.

I had my tubes tied just this year, and I have found out the hard way that I should've educated myself alot more before hand.

Best of luck.

I can't believe that this thread is still going and pops back up every once in awile. So far I have been getting information, but haven't scheduled anything. I talked to a GP and got a referal to a urologist. I have a reference on the urologist from someone I respect.
I've got more important personal issues at the moment, and I'm not in a relationship right now, so pulling the trigger on this is on the back burner.
