As far as answering her questions.....do you have kids? Have you ever had to explain sex to one? It is squicky for us parents too, and embarassing, but we do it for our kid's sake. Maybe if you look at it that way, it won't be quite so squicky.

I agree, you prolly wouldn't want her on this site, it IS your stompin grounds so to speak, but maybe if you could tell her of some others? I'm not too sure about alt.com, she may be too new for that, but there is also collarme.com. That one is a little safer, not as good as this one, but.....

My mother rarely asks such prosaic questions. The favorite questions my mother the psychology major asks?
"Now, b., do you know why you are doing what you are doing? Do you understand why you are doing what you are doing?"

Somewhat helpful when one is 7 and dealing with the Grade 2 bully.
Somewhat less helpful when one is 17 and dealing with the usual adolescent angst.
Definitely less helpful when one is 37 and she's trying to analyze one's marriage and the component parts thereof......

Not that I'm one of those people who thinks her parents only had sex twice. I know my parents have an active sex life (I should have known not to ask Mum about that scrape on her knee... after all, I had lived in the same house with them for 19 years at that point.....and I should have known that she'd tell me how she got it) but that doesn't mean I need her help on the subject. I can ask myself the questions now, if they are needed, as I've heard them often enough over the years.

But your post does make me want to call her, which I can't do at the moment, as the parents are incommunicado on a week-long recreation of their honeymoon (same hotel and everything) as a 40th anniversary present to themselves -- threatened both children with dire consequences if we interrupted them. I asked no questions..... anything more than an emergency contact number would definitely be well into TMI territory.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one with a questioning mother.....
