I appeal to anyone and everyone for any suggestions

I ask because i went to a reuse store and purchased an aluminum travel box and i am looking
for ideas on shelving units that i can can be built to store my ropes seperate from
my various ropes, floggers, slappers and canes.

Dimensions are:
Length = 2ft 11
Width = 1ft 4
Height = 1ft 1 1/8

the design has got to be lightweight and easy to access all of the toys that are in my repatoire

thanks in advance.

I can can not understand why you need to store your ropes separate from your various ropes

Have you ever heard of proofreading?

Indeed. The lesson here is that is that if you're going to join the grammar police you should know how to use spell check.

Take it to a custom cabinet shop and tell them your needs.

Sorry, but due to my confusion as I read your post, I would worry about trusting you with a power saw.

How much did you pay for the trunk?

Try using your rope to hang it from the ceiling. Create a cute little chair for it to sit in, all suspended and waiting for the store of the separate ropes, floggers and slappers.

Now that all the proofreading is done lets see if we can clarify a few things.

You call this a "travel trunk," does this mean you will be traveling and if so how? Are you going to go across town in a vehicle or take it on a train, plane, or ship?

It has been my experience, at least here in the USA, that if going by air it doesn't matter how well it is packed, by the time TSA, all the baggage handlers and the ups and downs of the plane, nothing is where you put it before closing the lid. So just throw them in and when you get where your going sort them out. Oh and you might leave a little note for TSA, they love to open things.

Either way good luck and have fun.

Rather than partitioning it, which is somewhat permanent, maybe look for different size, small zipper cases that will fit into it. Among other things, you'd either have to have trays or you'd have to dig trough to get to stuff at the bottom.

cheers

Partitioning is kind of expensive. Unless you are very good at carving foam rubber. For ropes, I'd suggest using some sort of lingerie/shoe bag. Coil it up nicely, slip it in, and there you are. Floggers the same. Crops, canes, whatnot you can use shipping tubes, or bundle them together with twist ties.

Personally, I just throw my stuff in a leather gym bag (that winds up weighing about as much as I do) and it doesn't get particularly tangled. Maybe it's just because the bag is packed full, I don't really know. The chains sometimes get kinked but that's going to happen whether we travel or play anyway, right? (*wink*)

So, I put that link up for 2 reasons. I know somebody with one and it's a nice bag. However, since you already have a trunk you like, I posted it because I thought you might be able to buy some of the accessories for the bag (see the bottom of the page) and cut them down to the size you need. It would require a lot less work. I'm not suggesting you aren't capable of the partitioning you were asking about, but the accessories like the boxes on that site would be easy to pull out and rearrange (or replace in the event it's needed) without damaging the trunk you like.

Just a suggestion.

Seriously - good ol' fashioned zip-top bags in various sizes. Label them if you have any liquids or things that shouldn't touch, so that nothing comes into contact with what it shouldn't, when you are putting it all away again. (i.e., if you are into elec play at all, you really don't want the icy hot jar to break and get onto your internal trodes...)

If you really still want the partitions, you can go with something as simple as drawer dividers at Walmart... But I'd still recommend the bags (which can be tucked into the partitions), if you are looking to keep everything untangled, undamaged, and clean.

You could put a thin strip of hardwood around the inside of the box(3/4 should work ) put the strips at equal height all the way around say 12 inches from the bottom then add a second row of strips say 6 inches from the top.

Now build a serving tray type thing with sides ( much like a drawer with hand holes cut into the sides )to fit across the strips but only half the length of the trunk. This way you can slide the trays from one side to the other or remove them altogether . If you do a good job on the trays they can be used in a service scenario .If you really want to go all out attach folding legs to the tray to make a table,or straps to one for hands free serving....you know if there hands are a little tied up at the time . I would still put the ropes in small bags or cut the legs of old pants and sew up one end.

Putting a few milk creates in there might be a good idea if your not that handy or cost is a issue. plastic tool boxes are nice for the small things ...clips clamps locks ect... same with tupperwear or rubbermaid containers("Rubbermaid" they have such a fitting name ). Any way just size up your needs and build something that will suit them.

Not that you asked but if your going to stuff that bad boy to the top consider making a dolly so you don't bust a gut lifting it.

Thank you everyone for the helpful suggestions on this newly purchased trunk to seperate my ropes, canes, floggers, slappers and paddles.

I will answer the questions that have been asked in the forum.

I paid 29 dollars at a thrift store

The travel means for this trunk would be my vehicle.

I have a few ideas from the various responses in which to think about.
