Forum Maniac  United States 2,838 Posts | I was really thrown by the last stanza, OM. I thought this was a poem about how crummy it is not to be able to see a lover for a while (but not breaking up). I thought the strangers were watching them, knowing sympathetically. Unless the parting itself is what's despised, not the partners. If so, a very nice metaphor. A thoughtful poem that's a bit jarring, but that's a lot of what I like about it. | |
